  • "Carb Options" got me started!

I may be a newbie to this forum, but I'm a veteran at dieting. In particular, high protien / low carb. I've always found that my biggest problem was eating SO much meat, without being able to have anything on it to add flavour. And mustard gets damned boring after a while.

I saw "Carb Options" when getting cleaning junk at walmart. Hardly ANY carbs in these products! They have bbq sauces, marinades, alfredo and tomato sauces, peanut butter, iced tea, salad dressings. AND! Here's the kicker. THEY ALL TASTE AWESOME!!! I'd use these over regular carby junk any day!

That was saturday. The following monday, I started my own induction. Fourth week now, 20 lbs lighter, heavy ketosis all the way, and I'm loving what I eat so I don't need the carbs. I'm also discovering that *whoa*, I'm a good cook! (Can't know that if you're eating Fat *** Burgers at Wendy's all the time! lol)

Anyway, thought I'd share with you if you're not already aware of it. Keep in mind, it's all cheaper at Walmart than at the grocery store. Oh, and BTW, I'm in Canada, but if we have it, I'm sure it's there in the US too. Ciao!

Me too! They're even better than the stuff with sugar! Have you tried the peanut butter? I avoided it at first because, well, you put PB on bread mostly (bread BAD!). But then I got thinking, why not PB and celery? "Ants on a Log", sans ants?

Variety is the spice of life!

One other thing about sauces I've found. As good as Carb Options is, I know the key to keeping your meals interesting is variety. So when you do get a little sick of having BBQ stirfry, another good one is gravy sauces in the pakages at the grocery store. Most of them have 4 carbs per package. I used half on some pork cutlets, and man oh man, was that a nice SAFE treat!

I've also found that getting a variety of spices helps too. I like the Clubhouse mixed spices because they're cheaper than filling a spice rack with individual things (garlic and roasted pepper spice is awesome!). They have a little bit of sugar, but used sparingly for flavour? Nothing your ketosis can't handle. I use them everyday and I'm doing good!

The carboptions products are not all equal, some are induction safe, some aren't you have to look carefully.

However, you can make most of the products carb options sells far tastier in your own kitchen. BBQ sauce, alfredo sauce, cheese sauce, tomato sauce, etc, all can be created with wholesome ingredients in any kitchen for an all natural far better taste.

They are decent for convenience though.,

Yes, I noticed that they all have different carb levels. So to start with, I only bought the bbq sauces and marinades, which are very low carb. Made induction quite a bit easier! I'm hesitant to try the alfredo or tomato sauces because typically I put those on pasta. I'm gonna give myself some more time to get over pasta before I consider those for my kitchen shelf!

Make sure you pay attention to more than just the carb counts.

While the carb counts are important, the actual ingredients are just as important. I have seen low-carb products before that contain corn starch, wheat flour, and other non-induction legal ingredients.

I've tried the chicken noodle soup and put the a bit of the onion soup mix in the wooshie pie today.. They are both pretty good.

I also found something that carb option's has is like sidekick's noodles. Those I will try soon and also going to get the ketchup.

The Carb Options peanut butter is not for any part of the diet, not even maintenance, because it has trans-fats in it. Smucker's natural peanut butter only has peanuts and salt as the ingredients, so it is a better choice. Of course, nothing compares to making your own fresh peanut butter. Yum!!!!
