I'm not sure I trust powdered shakes anymore, even though I probably shouldn't have them at induction level anyway. Made the mistake of getting the $20 can of chocolate and really not liking it. Very chalky, and didn't seem to mix very well at all.

As far as pre-mixed shakes go, I found EAS Edge in the four-packs much more bearable. It's not cheap either, but the strawberry is only listed as 2 carbs and isn't bad, imho.

Hi, i honestly thought i was just too picky. i'm glad to see i am not one of the few who does not like the cappucino and vanilla flavors.

i want to try the cappuccino muffins and see if i can use my shake mix that way. do the muffins taste like chanlk like the shakes do?

A way to rescue those Atkins Shake Mixes

Ah, there is a way to enjoy those Atkins Shake Mixes. My favorite is to use 8 oz. of WestSoy brand UNSWEETENED vanilla instead of water. Very low carbs - 1 or 2, and you have the added advantage of getting some soy into you (and not the isolate kind, the good kind). This completely solves the "thin" taste you get with water. You MUST add a few ice cubes to the blender. And it's good to add a tablespoon of ground flax seed - gives it some body and some heart-healthy flax.

Another option that works with chocolate and cappucino varieties - add 8 oz. of cooled decaf coffee, brewed on the strong side, instead of water.

Finally, add a tablespoon of Atkins syrup (strawberry, raspberry, etc.) to the Vanilla.

        Enjoy!

          Spoon stirrable shake mix

          Hi there,

I used to love the old shake mix... you needed the blender, but it was thick and rich tasting. The new spoon stirrable mixes are HORRIBLE!!!! They not only taste like chemicals, but the also have half the vitamins and minerals of the original mixes. So, I wouldn't reccommend the shakes to anyone, especially at $20.00 a can.

Does anyone else feel the same about the new mix?

What's wrong with the isolate kind - could you explain what you mean by the good kind? I'm interested, b/c I make protein shakes with soy isolate (vanilla) and they are pretty good

I thought this stuff was really gross (and I tried it hot and cold, with a little cream and without). But there is a flaxseed muffin recipe in "Other" forum here that calls for powdered whey. I used 6 scoops of the shake mix (recipe makes a LOT of muffins) in place of the whey and they turned out really yummy! I'm so happy that I haven't wasted my money and can put this stuff to good use! :laughing
