  • Honeybee low-carb Honey

    Hiya,

So yesterday browsing through Wal-Mart while waiting for my oil to be changed, I came upon a bottle of Honeybee Low-Carb Honey (basically honey flavored extra thick malitol syrup). Seeing as I love honey, and it was only $2, I had to pick it up.

I spread some with some butter on an O'So'Lo bannana walnut roll today for breakfast, and am very impressed. It has a fairly light honey flavor, but the perfect texture, and even gets one's fingers nice and sticky. Time will tell if it has the typical pure malitol effects, but today those would be most welcome...

Actually it's called HoneyTree. And, so far, its' the best sf honey on the market. And that's good because, thanks to Walmart, it's the easiest to obtain as well.

Besides having those potentially nasty laxative effects, maltitol syrup has one of the highest glycemic ratings for any sugar alcohol. Close to sugar, I believe. At least according to Mendosa, who, as everyone knows, isn't always right, but I do think he's on the money here.

I bought it for chicken tikka masala but haven't quite taken the plunge.

      As an update:

I ate a good bit of this stuff yesterday (a couple servings) and have had no ill gastro-intestinal side effects. I was also down 3 lbs this morning.

Of course, your experience may vary, sugar alcohols tend to do precious little to me...

Sounds good IF maltitol wasn't so evil, I might even give it a try--but no matter how good it tastes it wouldn't be worth it for me. :sadblinky
