  • low carb products

I have not been low carbing for about 6 months now but am getting back into it......my question is, after visiting the market, I have noticed some of the low carb products seem to have disappeared on me. I no longer see the low carb ketchup, bbq sauce, salad dressings or peanut butter. These were very helpful to me in the past and going to 3 different chains of supermarkets, all those products appear gone.......anyone in AZ see these products? or know of any stores that carry low carb. it almost seems as if this low carb trend has ended, at least as far as supermarkets go

My older sister just started atkins and was able to buy low carb ketchup at wal-mart. If you have any health food stores around where you live, go there. I just went to a place called health foods unlimited and they had tons of low carb food. Happy shopping!

You can still get low carb ketchup, its in the regular ketchup section, it may not obviously say "low carb" anymore, but instead it may say Sugar Free, its the same thing.

You don't need specific "low carb" dressings, just read the labels on the regular dressings, look for one with 2 carbs or less per serving. You should be able to find an acceptable Ranch, Italian and Blue Cheese. If you have Marie's brand available in your area, look in the salad section of the store because they have to stay refridgerated, Maries makes the best Blue cheese and there are a couple of other varities of Marie's that o.k. as well. Just read the labels!

Yeah, my favorite thingis the carb smart ice cream and most stores have almost completely done away with it except crappy flavors. It is really sad. I have to go out of my way to different stores for anything half decent. Stores are definitely off the low carb thing.

Really? The don't seem to be doing away with the ice cream here! I rarely buy it but I'm always in that section getting John his ice cream and I've noticed that it seems to be still selling strong around here.

            Re: low carb products

I have been reading labels and it is the ketchup that I especially miss......I am pretty sure the sugar-free ketchup in the store was 3 carbs Vs 4 carbs for the normal stuff. If it had been 2 carbs I would have bought it......I do remember the low carb ketchup was 1 and that is what I was hoping for.......as for the salad dressings, yes they have 2 carb stuff but I know they had zero carb so that is what I was shooting for. And, the way I tend to use these things, its better to find the 0 carb or 1 carb products if possible because I tend to use too much. I'll check walmart and some health stores and see what they have. Thanks

I have seen the carb smart ice cream in my market but was afraid to buy it. I believe it was 4 net carbs but I might eat the whole container

The Marie's Blue Cheese is under 1 carb per serving.

Here, you can make your own ketchup

                Low Carb Ketchup

                3 cups canned tomatoes, pureed
                2 pgs sweetener
                2 tsp. onion powder
                1/2 tsp. ground cloves
                1/2 tsp. allspice
                1/2 tsp. cinnamon
                1/2 cup white vinegar

Combine everything except the sweetener into a medium saucepan. Simmer for one and a half hours, stirring regularly. Remove from heat and add two packages sweetener. Cool and pour into an empty, cleaned ketchup bottle, or in a jar with tight lid. Store in refridgerator for up to four months.
