• Russell Stover NET CARB Marshmallow Santa

These things are wonderful. Taste just like the real thing. Only 0.2 net carbs per serving. They also make peanut butter filled santas too at 0.7 net carbs. They are good as well.

Russell Stovers are probably one of the better low carb candy makers. It is the only candy I will buy for my family - if and when I buy it.

when i wasnt doing induction correctly, i would eat thos eall the time! they are amazing!!! i stocked up because they were all on sale so ill have them for once induction is over. i bought pecan delights, thin mints, bite size chocolates, chocolate waffers and the chocolate sauce!! the chocolate sauce is like hot fudge and is amazing!!! the low carb count on RS products is amazing!! haha!! tip: chocolate sauce with heavy cream and a a little water heated is like hot chocolate and less than 1 carb!!

These candy companies are making full use of the sugar alcohols out there...but that doesn't make them safe for indulging in for Atkineers who want to succeed!

See this article to learn more about sugar alcohols and how they affect you & your Atkins ------> www.mendosa.com/netcarbs.htm

It also includes a chart to help you identify the alcohols and tells you how much each affects your blood sugar. These will help you identify the bad sugar alcohols. Ie, Maltitol is at the top for blood sugar effect....and now look on the back of most Atkins sweets....it is their main ingredient for sweetening. This is why these products can stall you and slow you down.

Atkins book explains the sugar effect/insulin effect on our bodies....and the main correlation as to why Atkins diet works by correcting this.

I have found the safest looking product for candy is Hershey's 1 carb candy bars and Reeses 1 carb peanut butter cups....they use primarily erythitol and glycerin which have no glycemic value and add inulin which is wonderful for feeding the good bacteria in your intestines. There is some sugar alcohol content but it is low on the list so do not worry about there effects. I hope this helps.

Also, beware the Splenda hype. There are studies showing there may be bad side effects for us in the long run
