I got the Splurge! candy bar today because it stated it had no Maltitol. It was fantastic! I was really happy that I did not have the aftereffects of maltitol as it really tears my stomache up. I got it at Walgreens. They also have a website if you want to check it out.

According to their site the bars have fructose, which is a pure sugar carb, and something called 'non-impact fructose' which sounds suspiciously close to the fuzzy science the Dreamfields people use to me.
I would recommend avoiding these bars until well into maintenance, could easily be playing with fire here. There are a couple of brands of LC on the market now made with Erythritol, which is a completely non-impact SA, so those weould be the safest way to go.

I agree with you on that Nullo, I saw this paragraph on their website
Hmmm, weird science if you ask me!Recent studies have also shown that the fructose contained in has a similar minimal effect on blood sugar as do sugar alcohols. Some companies don’t count the impact of sugar alcohols like maltitol, or fructose on blood sugar, however, because its effects still have some limited impact on blood sugar, we at feel its important to show that minimal effect as part of the total net effective carbs. In the above example then, if a food has 15 grams of carbs, and 6 grams are fiber, 4 are sugar alcohols, and 5 are fructose, we would calculate that 79% of the 5 fructose grams (4g) would be subtracted, and 21% of the fructose would be included, so the net effective carb count would be 1 net effective carb.

Before I got into true low carb I tried these. Love the taste. Now note I was not doing a true low carb diet at the time, but I ate these to avoid a binge and still lost weight But I could not tell you whether they would stall someone or not.
