Does anyone know if Dreamfield Pasta is really low carb?
it says on the box that it has 5 grams of digestable carbs in it? No idea if thats a trick or what! ive had it before when i was on the low carb diet and it didnt seem to bother me...but this time i really want to do everything the right way. Please help!!!

Has anyone had it!? or heard of it?

Dreamfield Pasta are made from wheat, so although it is low carb it is not allowed on Atkins until the grains rung.

Before I was on Atkins we'd already made the switch to Dreamfields, and it's much, much better than whole wheat pasta. It tastes and has the texture of "normal" pasta.

Dreamfields is supposed to avoid blood sugar spikes in diabetics. It works for some, but apparently not for others.
On Atkins it's not allowed until the grains rung of OWL.
I reckon it's the best of the so called "low carb pastas". Best not to overindulge though, IMHO.
I have it occasionally... maybe once a month...but never a huge quantity.

ok... i have a question on this pasta.. 47 carbs with 37 protected carbs but does not say net carbs. 5 grams of fiber per serving, So by our standards.. this would have 42 carbs per serving.. right? What is the protected carbs and do we count them? I see where they get 5 carbs per serving.. if they take the 42 - 37 but do we count that 37 as part of our carb count?

It certainly tastes like the real thing but was my downfall last time as bought back all the cravings. I think there is a place for it in Maintenance but not before (for me). x

Anymore info on this? I am still early in my diet but really miss Alfredo, chix parm, spaghetti etc. It would be nice to know if this would be an option later.

Actually I do not think that is not correct. The 5g of effective carbs is not the same as 5 carbs per serving. You actually had the full carb amount on the box minus the fiber total. What you are reading by the 5g of effective carbs is in relation to how it effects glucose and how much it should raise your blood sugar numbers.

ok... I stand corrected.. I went to the website and read up on this and you count the 5gs as 5 net carbs. I am diabetic and doing low carb so i thought this was more a diabetic impact. The protected carbs are said by their website to be used as fiber by the body since they are not digested as a carb normally would. I have heard that if you over cook these you remove the protection but I do not know since they say on the website that it is a chemical change that makes them protected.

But this is not an induction friendly item. You must be on the correct rung to follow atkins like the book suggests or this site is going by.

I may have to make a lasagna tonight!

Your best bet is to avoid all pastas if they have ever been trigger foods for you. I know that I am terrified of them because of what they do to me and, if you really think about, they don't even have much taste to them. IMHO, they just aren't worth taking the chance of bingeing because of them.

I dont think I have any "trigger" foods. By Trigger you mean that it makes you want more of that food? For me if I dont want it I dont eat it. I dont think I ever binge eat either. Now I do make consisious decisions to eat certain foods knowing that my lost this week will not go down. But life happens and I know that depriving your self of something only makes you want it more. So I do eat certain things like chocolate and bread but in moderation or for one meal only then back to plan. I know some people do not have that control but for me I do. Like last night I had a large chocolate cake in front of me.. I was cutting it and I didnt have any. And I LOVE chocolate cake. I didnt even steal a taste of the icing.

                          Thats just me.

                            Re: Dreamfield Pasta?

So I tried some. Just as tasty as any pasta.
I seem to remember reading that some people measured their blood sugar glucose reaction after having some .
I cannot say that I felt a jump. I am at the stage where I usually have a sort of a rush if I suddenly eat a lot carbs. So I am thinking this was "safe". The portions are small. So that is certainly something to watch. As an occasional food this would be fine.
