  • Awesome wraps!

    My first post

I found the most amazing product ever! I have been craving wraps to make tacos, fajitas, quesadillas, and any kind of wrap in general. I was in the grocery store a couple of days ago and was looking at the soft tortillas.

I usually buy these wraps that are 5 carbs but i only eat them every now and then because the carbs definitely add up (they didnt taste great though either) then I noticed these new wraps I have never seen before.... they are called OLE xtreme wellness wraps (high fiber). It caught my eye because of the high fiber part. I looked at the back and it said... 5 carbs and 12 GRAMS of fiber!!!!! I was in shock. I was assuming that they would taste horrible but I decided to buy 2 packs (has 8 in them) just in case i loved them :P

I had one as soon as I got home and it was delicious!!!!!!!!! Definitely the most exciting product I have had in a while. Everybody has to try them! Another good thing is that they are the same price as all the other tortillas.

Okay, I am done raving about these. Hope you buy them and enjoy them as much as I have been

    Re: Awesome wraps!

Sorry but this has to be one of those labels with hidden carbs. By the Atkins formula, 5g total carbs minus 12 g fiber would equal -7g carbs. I know there's a way to calculate the true number of net carbs but I'll be darned if I can remember it.

These wraps aren't on the acceptable food list so using them isn't allowed on the plan until higher up the rungs that the one you are on now. Please research the foods you are allowed on the plan and on each rung before you add other foods that aren't allowed.

        Re: Awesome wraps!

The OP is on OWL Rung 1, not on Induction, so she is allowed more things than those on the Acceptable Foods List for Induction. Nevertheless, the wraps are made of grains, which are not allowed until OWL Rung 9. Atkinsgirl, if the info in your profile is correct and you are indeed in OWL Rung 1, then the wraps will have to wait a bit. OWL Rung 1 is simply more low-carb, non-starchy vegetables, in addition to the Induction 3 cups of vegetables from the Acceptable Foods List. So no tortillas or peanut butter or whatever... just more veggies. Thanks for the recommendation on tortillas though. I'm sure it will help OWLers who are in OWL Rung 9 or Pre-Maintainers and Maintainers. And you have something to look forward to!

There are 5 net carbs in the product and 12 g of fiber, for a total of 17 g carbohydrate. The product is labeled the European/International way.

Before you run out to buy this product, be aware that a negative carb count is not possible. There is an error in the way this product is/was labeled (I understand it has since been corrected). For the 5 grams of carbs, the fiber had already been deducted. Here are a couple of pics of the label and ingredients list. They are even being deceiving about the fiber.

Yes. When you get to OWL Rung 9, you will count a tortilla as 5 net carbs. We are counting net carbs on Atkins, which on American labels is total carbs minus dietary fiber. On most European and International labels, the carbs listed are net carbs, and the fiber is listed separately (not under "Carbohydrate, as on the US labels). This is a sticky thread explaining the different ways of labeling foods: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...l-reading.html

Those wraps are good. Before I knew much about the rungs/OWL I was eating a couple of them a week and they did seem to contribute to a slow down in my weight loss (those, and some aspartame-containing items like Crystal Light and diet gelatin mixes from a box). Just FYI.
