I tested the Diet Coke with Splenda (which only comes with caffine) (about $4.45 at walmart for a 12 pack) and compared it to Diet Rite (with splenda and caffine free) (about $1.25 at walmart 2 quart), side by side and what a surprise I could not tell the difference in tast.
So Diet Rite wins over Diet Coke w/splenda for same tast, less price and caffine free.
Also extremely good is Hansens Diet Root Beer with splenda and caffine free / no perservatives. The root beer tast very close to A&W root beer. The Peach and Blackberry are also very good.
They sell for 2 6-packs for $5.00 at sprouts or Tom Thumb/safeway. Hansens Diet also have several odd flavors like grapefruit, Kiwi, palmgranit.... that are O.K. in tast, but not good enough to recommend.
I also tried Shasta soda from the 99cent store, not near as good as Diete Rite or Hansen, but a lot less expensive 77 cents for four, O.K. but also not my recommendation for tast.
There is also Pepsi One and Arizona Tea with splenda, which I have not tasted to compare or recommend.
But is good to know they are out here for different choices.
The Splenda is a lot sweeter than aspertane and for me leaves a sweet tast on my tong long afterwards.
Be aware for some people, just the tast of sweetness will cause them to produce insuline (cephalic insulin reaction) and stall your weight loss.
