breyers low-carb ice cream

has anyone tried that new low-carb ice cream that breyers is offering? i saw it in the store today and looked at the label. it's sweetened with splenda and it has the same net carbs and serving size that atkins' ice cream has ... but it's lots cheaper, $5.50 for half gallon instead of $6 for just 4 half-cups.

I actually liked it too. I haven't had the Atkins ice cream so I can't compare. But this was a really NICE treat. However, it tastes somewhat more like a frozen chocolate mousse - fluffier and lighter than real ice cream.

I would recommend looking at the label. Yes, Breyer's Carb Smart is low-carb, BUT the third ingredient is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!! I was soooooobummed to see this, but I know if I eat it my sugar cravings will come back. :twisted:

I've also heard about a coffee creamer by International Delights that is low carb. And the second ingredient is SUGAR!! It really makes me mad to see this stuff being made by large companies without any research at all!! :twisted: They just want to jump on the low-carb bandwagon and make some money.

I found a recipe for ice cream on another low carb site, and it is so quick, easy, delicious, and low in carbs. The recipe;

Add 1/2 tsp. Vanilla, 1/2 cup heavy cream, and 1 pkg. or tbsp. splenda in a small sandwich bag and seal tightly. In a gallon size ziplock bag, add ice ( about 3 trays ) and 6 tbsp. of salt. Place the small bag into the larger one and shake for about 4-5 minutes. Take the smaller bag out of the larger bag and rinse the small bag in cold water. Then eat. It takes great and the only carbs that you count is the splenda and the heavy cream, both are about 1g. Try it and you won't be sorry.

I was so excited to find Bryers Low Carb Ice Cream in my local Winco. I bought 2 of the 1/2 gallons of chocolate! Well, guess what, I can't eat it! The sugar alcohols in it give me a major case of the runs, but not right away, the next day. Sheesh. It would have been better if it happened right away so it wouldn't have taken me a few weks to figure it out.

Carbsmart LC Ice cream?

Well, I've tried this new ice cream and I have found that it triggers my cravings. It does have a great taste but it is not worth it for me. Everytime I indulge I have major cravings.
