  • Hot wings

    Hi all,

I just made the most wonderful hot chicken wings and they were so easy. Here's the recipe:

    chicken wings
Louisiana hot sauce (or Tabasco, etc)
    extra virgin olive oil
    cayenne pepper
    paprika
    onion powder
    black pepper
    salt

I just put the wings in a big bowl and coated them with hot sauce, drizzled a little olive oil, added the spices and mixed it all around until the wings were coated in the mixture. I baked them on a cookie sheet covered with foil at 350 for an hour. I served them with real blue cheese dressing (I used Marie's, it has no carbs or bad ingredients) and celery (which counts as a salad veggie). They tasted amazingly close to the wings I used to get at my favorite restaurant!! Be careful though, they are spicy!!

Or you can just pick up a bottle of Franks Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce and skip all the other ingredients. Franks is awesome, tastes like true buffalo wings should.

i love Frank's. I use the extra hot Frank's hot sauce and a bit of butter and toss the cooked wings in it.

Yep, I use Frank's and butter as well, but I put the sauce on AFTER the wings are cooked!

exactly! Hubby steams them for a few mins in a tightly covered bowl after adding the sauce and shaking it up a few times, he swears it's one of the secrets of great wings and something they always did in the restaurants he's managed.

                Re: Hot wings

You know my very favorite way to do them in the summer is to grill the wings --I like to do whole wings, not the little thirds of wings that they always have in restaurants! I grill them until they are really really crispy then dunk them in the sauce and eat them right away while the skin is still nice and crispy...man you guys are making me hungry!

YUMMMMM! another spin on that idea MOG is to deep fry the wings in peanut oil first, then steam/coat them in covered bowl of sauce, it keeps it crispy yet oozes sauce, YUM, darn now I'm hungry too heh heh

Grilling them is my fav method of cooking them also. i've baked them and deep-fried them, but the grill is definitely my favorite. I cook them before i toss them also.

Yea Starmaker, I like them fried as well, that's the way most restaurants do it (except papa johns--they do theirs in the pizza oven) Only thing is, I don't have a fryer and it makes too big of a mess on the stove!

I am so ready for full fledged grilling season! Oh I think I'll start a thread.
