I kept thinking cinnamon or something-at any rate it was definatley a spice that my taste buds did not associate w/ chili and it looks like that Texas Pete hotdog chili that comes in a can.Originally posted by TyCowboyProbably...that's why it's such a dark color.

Re: Chili!
I'm very interested in this. Where do you find and what does it look like? I LOVE TABASCO SAUCE!!Originally posted by TyCowboyWhile it's not much of a recipie!!!
Tabasco makes the most WONDERFUL (if you like peppers) chili mix on earth. The whole container plus a pound and a half of ground beef has only 12 carbs in it! LOL...so for those of us with big and southern appetities dig in...

Skyline has a lot of stuff in it, Cinncinnatti style chili uses a lot of spices you might not assosciate with traditional chili.Originally posted by MotherOfGizmoI kept thinking cinnamon or something-at any rate it was definatley a spice that my taste buds did not associate w/ chili and it looks like that Texas Pete hotdog chili that comes in a can.Originally posted by TyCowboyProbably...that's why it's such a dark color.

Personally, I love the stuff, I think it is awesome, but if you go into it expecting regular chili you will be somewhat surprised. When I make my Cincy style I use cocoa, coffee grinds, clove, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, sage, cumin, cayenne, chipotles, and other stuff that I see fit. It all blends together into this great sorta murkey smooth spicey dark tasting stuff.

Yeah, Cincy style chili really has more in common with Curries IMO than it does with Texas style chili, I suppose it depends on how you think about it.
Then again, don't discount cocoa completely as an ingredient in non-sweet dishes. After all, it is one of the key ingredients in Mole.
