  • bun-less chili dogs (with pic)

This post was getting scrolled off, and I think it really deserves a permanent home in here. My family LOVED them, hubby took some for leftovers for lunch, and there was none left for me today.

    The Bun-less Chili Dog

    1 pound ground beef
    olive oil
    1/2 medium onion; chopped
    2 garlic cloves; minced
    2 T worstershire sauce
    1 small can tomato sauce
    1 T chili powder
    1 shredded mild cheddar

    1 pkg hotdogs
    1 T butter
    2 T favorite hot sauce

Score hotdogs, bring to boil in sauce pan. drain. set aside.

Add a couple quick rounds of olive oil; add beef; onion; garlic; brown.
Add worsterchire sauce; chili powder; salt; black pepper; 3-4 min.
Add tomato sauce; blend; let simmer on low heat.

Add butter; hot sauce to small frying pan on medium/high heat; melt to Blend together; add hotdogs and toss and rotate until casings are fully cooked.

Place hotdogs in a small baking dish; cover with beef mixture; sprinkle with cheese and place under broiler until melted; serve.

They are divine creations. A palate sensation that will make your heart soar. It's really the perfect family meal, too. You can throw some under the broiler on a bun for them, and a couple bunless one's for yourself. And you're done. I love the simplicity factor here.

Diesel: I don't mind at all. I appreciate you doing this.

Yes it is induction safe IF you use sugarless weiners and sugarless tomato sauce.

Be sure to read the lables and look for the sugars in the ingredients and the carb count in the nutritional info (they will both most likely contain *some* carbs, that occur naturally in the tomatoes ect.)

not exactly right look for no added sugar or sugar type ingredients in the ingredients lists. Ignore the sugars in the nutritional label they are naturally occurring sugars in the ingredients if there is no added sugars. Concentrat on the total carbs and the fiber in the nutritional label area of the product count your net carbs those natural sugars are already included in the total carbs.

This is a very induction friendly meal. Some inductees can't handle some of the ingredients like the onion or tomatoes becasue of these natural sugars and their metabolism or because they slow down their speed of loss to less then they are willing to have.

Do you mind if I ask wasn't exactly correct??? was it because I didn't mention 'other types of sugars' in the ingredients??

I need to be sure I get this right, so I don't make mistakes urplequ:

I made this a couple of nights ago and had to respond with how good it was. I actually doubled the recipe and then froze it into lunch portions. Actually, I'm eating it right now. Yum!!

I just wanted to bump this one up with TWO big thumbs up from me! I made this with 1/2 lite hot dogs (turkey/pork instead of all pork or beef) and 1/2 smokey links. I *almost* skipped the step of browning the dogs in the butter and hot sauce, but didn't and I sure am glad. These dogs rock! I'm actually looking forward to left-overs. If you knew me you wouldn't believe it !

I know this post is older, but I was looking for recipes and saw it. I think that chili sauce has carbs in it so is this induction legal or not?
