  • Cabbage Casserole

    Don't know if this has been posted but it's a really yummy recipe :yes

    1 lb. Chuck Groundmeat
    1 lb. Jimmy Dean Sausage
    2 medium onions (chopped fine)
    1/2 cup celery (chopped fine)
    1 large Bell Pepper (chopped fine)
    1 can diced tomato
    1 can of Rotel tomato
    1 medium cabbage (diced)
    1/4 cup water
    1 tablespoon chili powder
    1 lb. Velvetta cheese (sliced)
    1/2 stick butter
    1 cup milk
    1 tablespoon flour (mix with a little water) <-- can be sub. for low carb

    This recipe also calls for 1 cup long grain rice.. but it can be left out

    ** Mix ingredients together, Cook until mixture becomes thick
    ** Cook at 350 for about 1 hour 45 minutes

    It might well be "yummy", but it isn't suitable until ?maintenance, if then. Velveeta cheese, milk, and flour are not allowed.

    Just a reminder -- folks, be sure and check out ALL recipes!! No matter HOW good they look, if there are foods not on the acceptable food list, or not acceptable to your phase of owl, pre-maintenance, etc... they are not for you!

      all ingredients can be substituted with low carb options..

      it is a good recipe if you are trying to maintain

        Eh, even in maintenance Velveeta is never a good idea, that stuff is loaded with so much processed crap that it isn't even close to real food.

        Subbing cheddar for velveeta, heavy cream for the milk, and some sort of gum or ground mushrooms or something for the flour could make it induction OK, depending on serving size.
