  • Beer Can Chicken

    1) whole chicken
    1) can of beer
    any spices, seasoning you desire.

Made this tonight and had to share it!

Take a can of beer and empty out (or have skinny DH drink) about 1/4 of it.
Remove top of can completely. Throw in any spices you like. I used about 3 cloves of garlic, rosemary, seasoned salt and lots of pepper.
Set can on grill, put chicken over can (set into cavity) and prop up so he does not fall over, using legs! Looks pretty funny. Put a drip pan under rack. Season chicken as desired. I used seasoned salt and seasoned pepper and close the lid. All depends on your grill but my guy was done in an hour (I used a meat thermometer).
The moistest chicken I have had in years! Flavor was great and was pretty dam funny to see it sitting on the grill!

Bren I love this and have been eating it for years. I get rid of more of the beer though before I start. You can do it with diet soda too.

I used the diet tangerine for an orange flavor with rosemary. We refilled a can with wine and herbs too and have done it that way.
In a regular oven you set it on 225 for about an hour and then 425 for about 20 min to get it crispy. Use on oven thermometer to be sure it gets done inside. If you save a soda can you can use bottled beer.
Make sure in the oven your can is 1/2 fill or you will get boil over and carbs in the chicken.
