  • Fish fry

I made this last night and fortunately, I kept track of what I was doing. Most of the time, I throw things together and then I can never replicate them!

My husband says that this is better than Long John Silver's.

    Fish:
    10 fillets white fish
You can use pretty much any white fish with this; I used tilapia last night but will probably try cod next time as it's a bit thicker.

    Batter:
    2 eggs (1.5 net carbs)
1/4 cup heavy cream (1.5 net carbs)
1/4 cup Bob's Mill soy flour (5 net carbs)
    1/4 cup water
    pinch o' salt

    ---------------------------

Pour 1.5" canola oil in a heavy skillet and turn on high.

Combine the heavy cream and eggs with a whisk until slightly frothy. Whisk in soy flour, then water, then salt.

Heat oil to 375F. Pick up one piece of fish by the end and dip it in the batter. Drop it in the oil, then repeat with four or five more fish strips.

Nutrition info for the whole recipe, per FitDay:
    2500 calories
    60 g fat
    8 g net carbs
    433 g protein

My husband, 4-year-old daughter, and I ate about 6 fillets' worth last night, so I'd say that 10 fillets would make enough to feed four adults, as long as you have other side dishes. Make your own mayo-based tartar sauce and your fat ratios round out pretty well.

I did a search in Yahoo or Google, then tried a search here in the recipes and was about to give up and thought I'd skim through here and WahLah was what I was looking for AND I had all the ingrediants. My pinch of salt was too big, but they were delious!! Thank you for sharing it was exactly what I was craving!!!
