  • Breakfast Sausage

    Here is a fairly good recipe for breakfast sausage.

    3 lbs ground pork
    1 1/2 t ground black pepper
    1 1/2 t salt
    1 1/2 t thyme
    3 t ground sage

    Mix all ingredients well. Make patties and fry in a small amount of oil. I made some of this for breakfast today and it was good, but I used 3 t of salt and it was way too much. That's what the original recipe called for. You could also add a small amount of Accent if you use that.

    watch anything you add Accent to -- it's MSG and isn't a good thing for your body!! Questions and Answers - Spike Seasoning, Accent Seasoning, What is MSG?, Monosodium Glutamate, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein.

    I have a tried something similar to your recipe and like it -- most times I get Honeysuckle Turkey Breakfast Sausage at the store - it hasn't caused any problems for me but I don't eat sausage often.

    I agree with you about salt -- when a recipe calls for salt I usually don't add any salt because I haven't cooked or eaten salt other than what is already in food for years. I can tell when I've eaten something that has too much salt, my fingers, hands and feet swell and ache.

    Good for you trying new things!! Keep up the great work.

      Thanks for sharing that - my husband & I both love sausage, but we've mostly been avoiding it since we can't find a really appropriate one.

        i tell ya what... i tried this one.. but come to find out.. that the bob evans sausage that you buy in the rolls are good... ive been enjoying the bob evans for a few weeks now and am still losing... even had for breakfast this morn
