  • Bake Mix "Substitutes"

Here are a "couple" of Atkins Bake mix substitue recipies, might be a little easier on one's budget. I have a couple of them so I will post them all here,... again I dont know where I originally got these .. they are written down in my recipie file's.

    1) Atkins Bake Mix Substitute

    1 cup soy flour
    2 cups soy protein isolate
    2 tbsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    2 tbsp splenda

Sift together then store and use as you would Dr. A's. It's much cheaper . . . and things come out about the same. (approx. 3 carb's)

    2)
    1/2 cup ground almonds
    1/4 cup soy protein Isolate
    1 tsp baking powder

Mix and keep in an airtight jar.
    (approx 1 Carb)

    3)
    1 cup Whey Protein Isolate
    1 cup soy flour
    3 tbsp baking powder
    1 tsp salt

Sift everything together three times. Use as you would the Atkins or GNC bake mix.

    4)
    1 cup soy flour
    2 cups soy protein Isolate
    2 tbsp splenda
    1 tsp salt

mix well together-store in a cool dry place.

What area in the grocery store do you find the Whey Protein Isolate & the Soy Protein Isolate ? New at this so have no idea!

Hi Nan. I actually found mine in the aisle that has the baking goods. some other people have mentioned that their stores have it in the special foods section designated for "health foods". You might just have to ask your grocer if they carry it and where you can find it.

Here's another, a no soy version I found.

Atkins Bake Mix - No Soy

          1 cup almond flour
          1 cup vital wheat gluten
1 cup unflavored whey protein powder
          4 packets splenda
          2 tablespoons baking powder
          1/2 teaspoon baking soda
          1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix all together and store in a zip lock bag in the fridge. When a recpie calls for bake mix, just measure according to the recipe.
