  • Meat Crust Pizza

My husband was terribly excited after hearing this recipe on the radio on his way to work. He looked it up on their website and I thought I would post it here for anyone to try. I have not tried it yet myself but hope it will be a great alternative to the real thing. Happy eating!

    "Meat Crust - Pizza

    Recipe By :
    Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time 00
Categories : Low Carb 5-10 Pasta - Pizza

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    ---CRUST---
    3 pounds ground beef -- 1.5k
    3 eggs
1 onion -- finely chopped (or
    substitute dried onion chips)
2 cloves garlic -- finely chopped (or
    substitute garlic powder)
    1 tablespoon salt
    3/4 teaspoon black pepper
    3/4 teaspoon fennel seed
    ---FILLING---
2 1/4 cups plum tomatoes -- drained and chopped
    1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
    1 teaspoon oregano
    1 teaspoon basil
salt & pepper -- to taste
    ---TOPPING---
    1/2 pound mozzarella cheese -- 250g
    sausage or pepperoni
    oregano
    3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 375. Mix together crust ingredients. Separate into 2 pieces and flatten them onto cookie sheets. They will be about 1/2" thick when you are done. Bake for 30 min; pour off any fat that may have collected. Meanwhile, mix together the filling ingredients. Spread over both crusts. Put your toppping ingredients on and put back in the oven for about 15 min.
I made this today and realized I had not tomatoes when the crust was in the oven. I made a quick sauce using tomato sauce, basil, oregano, seasoned salt, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. I didn't simmer it long and didn't use very much and the pizza was better than the above recipe. I don't use commercial sauce because they put lots of corn syrup in. But tomato sauce from a can has only 4g in 1/4c. Enjoy.

We tried making this recipe Wednesday night, and it rocked! We topped it with black and green olives, pepperoni, grn peppers, onions, cheese, and mild banana peppers. The diced tomatoes in the recipe mixed with the seasonings in the recipe were to die for! They literally made the pizza. It took a little time to make it, but we will never be getting pizza out again. Very satisfying for both of us.

It will be on my plate this weekend.

I had often wondered about using shredded zucinni and mixing it with egg and parmasean cheese..

      anyone try that?

That's a bit heavy for me. I use a big portobello mushroom for the crust.

          loved it

I made this yesterday for the whole family for lunch (sort of hoping that they wouldn't like it and I could have left overs for a while) and they loved it. I really felt like I was cheating tho. WOW it was sooooo good. Thanks for sharing.
