  • Trying to make a LC "malt"

    HI AGAIN !!

Can somenoe help me? I have been craving a chocolate malt/shake lately. So, I tried coming up with my own, but not having any success. What I am doing is combining in a blender:

1 c of chocolate Soy Slender milk
A splash of Torani Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup
    A splash of cream
    About 7 Ice Cubes

then I blend for about 3 minutes and what happens is that the top gets all foamy, but underneath the foam it is just the consistancy of regular soy milk !! I want something THICK I don't want to add any LC Ice cream (which I figure would thicken it) because I don't want the left over stuff around :>).

Any suggestions would be appreciated !

Don't add the chocolate syrup or cream: they only add more liquid and no texture. Use a chocolate extract or essence if you want to boost the chocolate flavor or add a pinch of decaf coffee powder.

Soften a teaspoon of unflavored gelatin in a tablespoon of water. Set aside. Bring 1/4 cup of water to a boil. Take it off the heat and add the softened gelatin to the boiling water. Stir it until the gelatin is thoroughly dissolved. Add a 1/4 of cold water to it and stir. Then add the gelatin mixture to your soy milk. Put into the blender with the ice cubes and blend. As the mixture blends and is chilled by the ice cubes, the gelatin will thicken it.

It will thicken it. I tried out an Atkins recipe from one of the older books that used an entire package of gelatin for 4 drinks---that was way too thick.

Experiment alittle with the gelatin amounts. 1 teaspoon should thicken 1 cup of liquid rather well, but if it doesn't increase it by another teaspoon until you get the result you like.
