Does anyone have a recipe for taco seasoning? I really like taco salads, but the packaged seasonings have about 3 carbs per serving. Altough not a lot, I think it could be 0. I have tried some, but not been too successful.

I love tacos too..hehe and the seasoning I use, for 1lb of ground beef, por, turkey whateva is:

    1 tablespoon of Chillie Powder
    1/4 teaspoon of ground Cumin.
1 garlic clove or 1 teaspoon of powder

Now I think what bring it all together are the green bell peppers and onions. I also tend to put in more Chillie powder cause I like it spicy.

But I figure these are the 3 main ingrediants used in commercial taco seasonings...so work with what you like and good luck!

I have never been able to make taco seasonning that I like as much as the packaged stuff, so what I do is just cut down on the carbs from the package stuff. How I do this is, the package says use the whole package for a pound of hamburger and mix with water, I use about 1/3 of the package and don't mix it with any water, I sprinkle it right over the meat and onions and just let it cook in.

Here is the taco seasoning that I had last night.

(for 1 lb of ground beef)

          2 tps chili powder
          1.5 tps ground cumin
          1.5 tps onion powder
          1.5 tps garlic powder
          1.5 tps paprika
          1 tps salt
          cheyenne pepper to taste

I also like the Chili's fiesta taco mix. It is just onions, garlic, and jalapenos.
