  • Miracle Whip Substitute?

    Howdy~

Getting ready to start induction along with my husband next week.

I know that Miracle Whip isn't acceptable but my DH won't eat mayonnaise :vomit .

Any "legal" substitutes or recipes floating around here. This could be a life-saver :laughing .

    Thanks

You could always do what I used to do with my kids. There were some foods that they would only eat certain brands of... so I would get an empty container of their preferred food.... and put the cheaper stuff in it. They never knew the difference! :smileangel

This might not work on your husband tho!

But I can tell you this: before my daughter and I started the Atkins way of eating, I positively LOATHED mayo... would not touch it! I was a Miracle Whip person, no two ways about it.

After a week on Atkins, I tasted the mayo that I had bought for my daughter, and lo and behold! My tastes had changed so much that now I can almost eat mayo with a spoon! LOL I never would have dreamed I would change that much!

But your tastes do change, once you get your addictions to sugar and flour, etc. broken. Foods that never seemed sweet before now taste naturally sweet. No kidding!

    Good luck!

That's what I've been hoping. He asked me the other day what plain canned tuna tasted like. He has only had it mixed with "butt-loads" of miracle whip before.

I don't think he'll like it plain. After a fashion, he might just come to love mayo!

      Thanks!

Try adding a pinch of splenda. Miracle whip is highly sweetened.

I agree with Kitty, isn't Miracle Whip just sweet mayo? I'd try to adapt something for you, but I have honestly only have Miracle Whip a couple times, never really cared for it so I never bought it and thus am not intimately familiar with the taste...

This has nothing to do with mayo..but alot to do with tuna

            Hi

Just thought i would share my "tuna" experience. I had always bought tuna packed in water (you know low-fat diets). Well when i bought for Atkins i bought some in oil and some in water. OH MANNNNNNNNNN, i love the tuna in oil now, alone, by itself, without adding anything. One of my favorite( hurry-up meal) meals now is 1 cup canned asparagus, 1 can tuna in water, just dumped out and eaten. Who woulda thunk it!!

Good luck with the MW and the DH.

            God Bless ya

Joan, I too was a " Miracle Whip" person . Now I just take mayo, add some splenda and a bit of vinegar. I have " Miracle Whip"! I have it on a lot of things. Makes a great dressing for salads and cole slaw .
              Hope this helps.

I was a Miracle Whip fan as well, but decided to try Hellmans (aka Best Foods in some areas of the country). Ya know, it's not half bad. It's very close in taste to Miracle Whip, but no carbs.

I absolutely HATE mayo as well.. i won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.. so i always use ranch salad dressing as a substitute! I hope this helps!

I've been putting Bacon-Ranch salad dressing in my Tuna just for a change from Mayo. Very Yummy! :icondance
