  • Lo mein sauce...or something similar

    Hi all~

    I've had a thing for vegetable lo mein for many years. I'm going to try a low-carb veggie version of it (using cabbage mainly), but I would love to add a low-carb version of Lo Mein sauce.

    Any thoughts?

    I would suggest messing around with:

    A base of chicken broth (start with half a cup)
    Soy sauce (start with 1 tbsp)
    Small amount of "oyster sauce" or use no carb Nuoc maam fermented fish sauce from an Asian grocery (start with 1 tsp)
    Toasted sesame oil (1 tbsp)
    Fresh grated ginger (to taste, start with 1 tsp)
    Fresh crushed garlic (to taste, start with 1-2 cloves)
    Psyllium powder or ThickenThin NotStarch (start with 1 tsp)

    Toss together and taste until it works for you. You may need to play around with the quantities.
