Flax meal can be often bought in your local grocery store. I don't know where you're from though so can't help with specific stores. I buy mine at a health food store.

Flax also comes in seed form which can be easily ground in a coffee grinder. This means you are getting all the fresh nutrition value.

There are many flax recipes on the Board and in the recipe section. Everyone has their favorite. Mine is Flax crackers which taste a bit like WASA crackers and give me something to snack on. It is just equal amounts of freshly ground flax and water. Spread disk shapes on wax paper and zap til almost crispy. Sprinkle while still moist with your favorite seasoning salts--butter flavored is nice. You can also make a sweetened versions using splenda, cinnamon or a pinch of cocoa.

I haven't tried these yet but I bought flax meal yesterday so I could.
Anyone tried adding anise seeds and splenda to make a biscotti tasting cracker??

I'm imagining all kinds of toppings.

I buy Bob's Red Mill at my local grocery stores in the aisle that they keep their "healthy and organic" foods. I make pancakes with the regularly. THe recipe I use is as follows:

        2 Eggs
        3 Tbs Flaxseed Meal
        2 Tbs Heavy Cream
        1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 Tbs Cinnamon (I like a lot, adjust to personal preference)
        Sprinkle of Nutmeg
        1 packet Splenda
        Splash of Vanilla extract

Mix wet ingredients. Mix dry ingredients. Combine and let sit for 5 minutes. Cook like pancakes. Usually have to be small to make them easy to flip.

        Edited to correct baking powder

I have flax meal hot cereal every morning and am really enjoying it. I combine it with wheat bran to give it a better texture (flax meal can sometimes have a "slimy" consistency. Here's my recipe:

1 tbsp flax meal (or flax seeds since you're grinding them)
          1 tbsp wheat bran
          1 tsp Splenda
          1/4 tsp cinnamon
          Pinch of salt

Combine these ingredients in coffee grinder and grind together. Add enough hot water to make a thin consistency (like a gravy thickness). Microwave for 45 seconds. Stir well and add:

          1 tsp butter
          1 tbsp heavy cream

and stir some more. Best eaten when still warm.

VERY high in fiber so I wouldn't eat it on the morning of a long car trip or day-long conference! 2 net carbs after deducting fiber and 1/2 serving of Splenda.

          Hope this helps!
