  • ginger syrup or juice

a while ago i read a recipe for making ginger juice/syrup, and i thought i had stored it on the computer, but als, no go.
so here my request: can anyone help me with a recipe to make this?
also any good recipe to make desserts with ginger, as i'm very fond of it, but candied and syruped storebought are out of the question.
    Thanks in advance.

you can boil fresh ginger slices with water to make a ginger syrup and then add sweetner as you use it. Or you can buy one of the DaVinci flavored sugarfree syrups they had one called ginger bread. http://www.davincigourmet.com/page.p...ubcategory=161
or you could after you discover the carb count for ginger just grate some fresh ginger onto your food you want the flavor in and enjoy

Like 2Big said, boil slices of fresh ginger in water and use the "tea".

As for ginger based desserts, there are a couple you can try. You can use a baked custard recipe and boil the cream with slices of fresh ginger and proceed as you would for the custard. If you look around the dessert forum, you'll find 2Big's recipe for panna cotta. Just boil the cream with slices of fresh ginger and proceed with the recipe. You can use the ginger tea and make a gelatin dessert out of it.

Especially now that it's cold, I like to drink ginger tea. Basically it's ginger slices boiled in water, add lemon juice and sweeten it according to your taste. In the summer, you can cool and freeze the ginger tea in ice cube trays and add the ginger tea ice cubes to sparkling water.
