  • Flaxmeal cereal recipe, help!

I have checked the recipe section, but I can't seem to locate a very simple flaxmeal cereal recipe someone had posted on one of the forums. If I recall correctly, this person just used two tblspns of flaxmeal and some water, then nuked it.

Does this ring a bell, anyone?

    Thanks! :hug

Grind 3 TBSP, not too fine. Add water until very thin. Microwave for 45 seconds, add butter and splenda, cinnamon and cream. Don't overcook, it gets really slimy.

If you miss oatmeal or cream of wheat, this makes a nice sub. I eat this every day.

I thought that was your recipe! :wave

      Thanks so much! :joy

I just need something quick to make and that sounds purrfect, especially since I'm not too keen on drinking my daily flaxmeal in a glass of water. :tounge

Books' recipe is great. I eat it almost every morning! I've made a tiny change to the recipe -- I put the Splenda and cinnamon in with the flax seed before grinding it (and a pinch of salt). Then I add the water and nuke it, as she says. To me, the heat seems to bring out the cinnamon flavor more.

I also make it with 1 tbsp flax seeds (ground) and 1 tbsp wheat bran (another acceptable fiber). This combo seems to have a slightly less "slimey" feel to it. The rest of the recipe is the same.

I don't eat eggs at all (yuck), and Book's recipe has made it possible for me to eat something good for breakfast! (Sorry, but tuna salad or leftover steak just doesn't feel like breakfast to me!)

I started eating it when Bikergoddess sais SHE ate it every day. I have seen her pic.... decided if it was good enough for her it was good enough for me! The wheat bran is not a bad idea, different foods have different nutrient values... so variety is good for that as well. I will have to look around for the coarse wheat bran....
