They put sugar in many of the sauces - be sure to check with the staff about that. Ask for your meat and vegetables to be cooked with no sauce, or with just soy sauce and sesame oil or other vegetable oil.

I went to one of those places about three months ago, pre-Atkins. The meats were not in any sort of marinade at all. The chef cooked them just in soy sauce I think. You should be able to request him to do so for you, anyway. They give you dipping sauces on the side. I'd avoid those...they tasted sweet. They did mixed vegetables, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, onions, etc. You should be able to find enough of the right kind and pick the rest out. Don't overdo it on the onions, as the big rings can add up carbs quite quickly. Or you could possibly tell him ahead of time what you can eat. And of course skip the rice. Have fun and take your camera! Attek

        Thanks

The best thing about this meal is that it is with a group of women who I havent seen since February, so they are in for a big surprise when they see me!!!

Anyone know the carbs in Saki if any????

Sake the wine? It's 7 grams of carbs per 3 fl. oz.

I went to the same type of restaurant two weeks ago. I had the steak and shrimp, and legal veggies and skipped the miso soup, rice and noodles.

Bet you'll floor them with the new you. Have fun.

most of the cooking calls for sugar and soy sauce. both are no good, as the soy sauce falls under the legumes rung so... ask them to skip all sauces, and ask for salt and pepper - thats the safest way i guess.
              good luck!

                Yuri,

I've got your chicken wings marinating to cook this evening. How do you figure out the carb count for them? Surely it wouldn't be the total count of the marinade since most of it gets left behind in the bowl?

Sorry Yuri. I thought it was you. I'll never find the post again I'm sure. Oh well.

Does anyone know if you count all the carbs in a marinade even though you're not actually consuming the whole thing?

                      No worries...

I dont think you need to count all the carbs in the sauce, i guess just to use your own judgment.... good question tho, id like to know as well.

Buttrshots...I think the recipe was posted by Chynna, you might pm her and ask about the marinade. I wouldnt think it would be too high as long as your leaving most of it behind.
