Please....

Making hot dogs for dinner....I know glamerous!
Need to make a side. I have turnips, no oil..except a little olive oil.
Don't want to turn oven on...too HOT.
I was thinking about Books recipe..no cream cheese.
Any suggestions?

How are you preparing the hot dogs? IF you are going to boil them, try shredding the turnips (you could use a grater) and quickly boiling them in the hot dog water, then draining them, and drizzling that bit of oil over top with some salt and pepper and perhaps a shot of lemon juice or vinegar. Never actually prepared them that way myself, but I am thinking it might be tasty.

I am going to broil them in my little toaster oven.

do you have a microwave? nuke the turnips and make seasoned mash potatoes out of them poke them with a fork so they don't explode or make faux tato salad out of them. or peel,coat them in a little oil and some herbs, and roast them in the toaster oven when browned finish them off in the microwave or boil them first and them finsh roasting them

Well I made turnip cakes..like potatoe pancakes.
Grated them, added: pepper, eggs, and some parm cheese.
Fried them up with the olive oil that I had left.
I liked them, don't know about DH..he worked late and was VERY cranky to say the least. I don't think he would enjoy pizza if he had it infront of him. He is not really on atkins, he just eats what I make.
