  • Recipes for GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL

    Hello :wave ,

I am thinking of getting a GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL. I have been told you can put frozen meat on it and that it will cook it very fast. Also you can cook bacon and fish etc with easy clean up. Could some nice chefs please give me any recipes or advice for using this grill.

    Thanks :joy

Hmmm...there was a huge thread on the Foreman grill a few months ago.

Anyhow, my advice when using the grill...

    1. Make sure you wipe the grill plates down immediately with wet paper towels after you finish cooking. You don't have to scrape every little bit off, but get the big pieces. You can always go back and clean it up more thoroughly before you put it away.

    2. Do some model shopping and get the biggest grill you can afford and have room on your counter for. The smaller grills will hold maybe 1 or 2 hamburger patties at the most. Get a large one so you can cook more at one time (saves time that way).

    My advice with cooking food...

Make a salt water brine and soak you food, particularly lean meats like chicken breast and pork chops before cooking. The salt water brine will keep the lean meat moist during the cooking process. I use 2 tablespoons of salt dissolved in about 1 quart of water. I soak chicken breasts and pork chops in this mix for at least 30 minutes. Rinse them off, pat them dry, and grill. You can also add 1/2 packet of Splenda to the brine mixture too, but I find that unnecessary.

Lightly oil or butter any veggies you want to grill before grilling.

If you're like me and tend to overcook meat, buy an instant read thermometer to make sure the meat is cooked, not overcooked.

I did do a search and found some good info. But they did not really have any good recipe ideas in the post. So I was hoping that if this was in the recipe request section then I would get a good response :nod

I live alone (except for my cat) :flowerki: looking for a way to keep my cost down. Want and easy way to cooks steaks, pork chops, fish, etc. Seems like I make way to many dirty dishes for one person right now.

I do have a question: is it bad that most of the fat will drain off?

I add fat to the cooked meat--cream or mayonnaise based sauces. Sometimes I'll pour alittle olive oil or a flavored olive oil on top of the meat before eating it.

It's a faster way to cook and it doesn't heat up the kitchen like the stove or oven will.

Here's some links to recipes. Some of them aren't Atkins friendly, so you'll have to modify these recipes and figure out their carb counts.
