  • Holiday Season coming... Ideas?

Hello, I literally started the Atkins Diet 9-2-04. I am enjoying reading all the wonderful recipies everyone has to offer and can't wait to give them a try.

Normally I make thanksgiving dinner with ALL the fixings. Does this board offer a Holiday cooking thread? Or perhaps, a Thanksgiving/Christmas alternate menu/substitutes.

My stuffing is out. So are my candied Yams. So are the dinner rolls and cranberry sauce lol. I would rather not have only Turkey and greens on my plate lol. I would like to be prepared when holiday season and family dinners come around. All suggestions are welcome. All I ask is to let me know which are "induction safe".

That's funny -- I was just thinking about Thanksgiving last night and realized almost ALL the food we normally have, with the exception of stuffing and by replacing mashed potatoes with fauxtatoes, will be just fine! We will have roast turkey, fauxtatoes, mashed turnip, green beans with mushrooms, brocolli with cheese sauce, boiled onions in cream sauce. I may replace the cranberry sauce with some kind of raspberry sauce using splenda and gelatin. We were always too full of turkey to eat pies, so that's fine too! So I'm delighted to say we might not even notice the "diet" during the holidays!

Just think creatively Focus on all the great foods you CAN have, not what you can't have!!

I was here last year...Yes, everyone begins to share their Holiday recipes.

For Thanksgiving, I go to my mom's house and bring a covered dish or two (she supplies the turkey, everyone else brings sides, appetizers, desserts, etc.)

Last year I brought a low carb cheesecake and my mashed pumpkin thing (couldn't eat the sweet potatoes).

This year I'm planning on 2 of the following, but haven't decided which two to bring:
      Low carb spoon bread
Low carb version of Mama Lo's Broccoli Casserole
Almond shortcake with mixed berry salad
      Raw veggie fries with dips
      Roasted mixed veggies
Meatballs in some kind of sauce
      Scotch eggs

Nottolate- where did you get these recipes? For Thanksgiving, I'd like to make all of that you listed. Sounds good!
