  • Gotta Have My Pizza! Anyone have a Crust Recipe?

It appears that everything above the crust on pizza is legal ... cheese, tomato sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc. Does anyone have a substitute for pizza crust?

Don't get mad at me ... I'm new at Atkins. And, I am ...

well if you don't want to order one with that nice plate they provide AKA the crust then you can either use a portabella mushroom as the crust or make the meatza pizza using a very thin burger as the crust.

Yummm, 2big! Ground beast sounds like a great idea!

I wonder if a thin layer of beaten egg (as glue) with browned burger in the bottom of a cast iron skillet, and the usual suspects as the pizza topping, then into a 450 degree oven until the cheese melts would work?

Hmmmm ... this gets pretty creative! Too bad mashed potato flakes aren't allowed. That might work for meatloaf.

      Thanks again, 2big.

you can make meatloaf with crushed pork rinds or flaxseed meal and the filler. you don't need the egg wash. just flatten the beef in a pie pie and bake in oven till brown then top with the pizza sauce toppings and cheese cook till cheese is melted and toppings are done.

          Pizza Crust

Follow the receipe for Pancakes in DANDR (soya flour, eggs, cream basically, add a litle salt and italian seasoning). Heat up a baking tin, aproximately the size of the pizza you want, in the oven with a little butter. Once very hot, pour in pancake mixture. Let cook unitl golden brown, remove, add topping and then cook.
Superb texture, taste and very like those thin Italian crusts.
Just had one and it is very filling!

I haven't tried this one yet, but am dying to!

                2 cups grated zuchinni
                1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
                1 egg slighly beaten

Mix ingredients together. Put onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. And that is your crust. Now add your favorite legal toppings and bake at 350 for another 20 minutes.

Re: Gotta Have My Pizza! Anyone have a Crust Recipe?

I satisfied my pizza cravings thusly:

A layer of pepperoni, then cheese, a tsp of low carb sauce or a thin roma tomatoe slice, and whatever else I wanted on my pizza... mushrooms and olives, usually, and of course, more pepperoni and cheeze. Broil, or, at work, microwave. Have to eat with a fork, but it has all the pizza taste with no crust, and I can make it at work. And when I make "real" pizza, you have to use a fork anyways..so this feels "right" to me...

                        Happy experimenting!

Re: Gotta Have My Pizza! Anyone have a Crust Recipe?

I've been making a crust for awhile with a 4-6Tbs. of Carbquick, 3-5Tbs ground flax, 1-2Tbs almond flour, spices (Mrs Dash?Italian spice?, etc) 1tsp baking powder, water to make it mixable, 1 or 2 eggs, and 1-2 whites. I want it to be like a thick pancake batter sort of. I pour/spread this on a pre-heated large stone (17") and bake at 350 until it is very dried out (15-25minutes), take out and top with all the goodies, bake 400-450. It should be like thin crust pizza and sturdy enough to pick up like regular pizza. Sorry I don't measure anything exact, but it has worked with alot of variations as long as you make sure it gets enough oven time at first.
