  • Bubble Tea

    Hey guys,
I have been in Induction since 5/30/06. I love water, and soda was easy to eliminate, but I really miss Bubble Tea. For anyone who isn't familiar, bubble tea is a cold flarvored tea drink with tapioca "bubbles" in it. I thought with all the food guru's around here someone may be able to come up with an alternative. I love all tea, so an unsweetened, decaffinated tea would work, but I'm not sure how to recreate the chewy little tapioca bubbles and make it Induction and/or OWL friendly. Any ideas???

I wish I could help but I've never heard of bubble tea... Hmmm... tofu? That might work in a crazy kind of way... No... that's too crazy...

      aggie,

I thought about tofu because it's tasteless like tapioca, but tapioca is chewy where tofu is more spongy. I don't know if it would work. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Look for the gluccomanan (sp?) blocks in Asian stores. It's the same stuff the shiritake noodles are made from, however, these are in soap-bar sized blocks, rather than in noodle form. Dicing up the block into tapioca sized cubes will give you the appearance and texture to some degree. It's also called "alimentary paste" in some places. But in the stores I shop, it's usually beside the shiritake noodles.
