  • Chile Lime Shrimp...help!

I've got some shrimped that are already cooked (I bought them that way, frozen) and I want to do some sort of chilled chile lime shrimp salad, but I need some help! What are your ideas?

Lime mayo is pretty popular in certain parts of the country. I'd make your own by adding lime juice to mayo and then adding chili powder to that.

Thanks Scott. I'll try that. I've got some awesome chili powder from Heidi.

Heidi's chili powder is pure ground chili peppers. Beyond that, I think a little of the other ingredients in traditional chili seasoning, specifically cumin and oregano, might be nice. If memory serves me correctly, chili powder spice blends are normally in the real of

        16 parts ground chili peppers
        2 parts ground cumin
        1 part oregano

Cumin mellows quite a bit when it's cooked as does oregano. Since this is an uncooked recipe, I'd cut the the cumin and the oregano in half.

I know this is kind of late but here is what I do with cooked shrimp

bag of semi thawed lightly rinsed shrimp drained
          1/3 cup coconut milk
          juice of one lime
          chile to taste
          bunch of cilantro chopped
          minced green onion
          diced ripe tomato
taste for salt and pepper toss well cover and
leave in fridg for one hour before serving

this is very yummy and you can vary the amts of everything as you know

I'll have to do that next time. The shrimp I had wasn't that great so I threw it away. blech.
