  • 'Fettucine' Alfredo & Chicken

Considering making Alfredo Sauce with Chicken and using the Shirataki Noodles under neither. We haven't tried them before - so I don't know how many servings are in 1 bag - and whether this would be a good recipe with them. Anybody have any comments/suggestions?

    Thanks!

Personally, I don't think the shiritake noodles are good in Italian pasta-type dishes because they are rather chewy and the taste is all wrong. But others use them that way.

My favorite way of using those noodles is in brothy Aisan style soups, or in Asian-style noodle dishes because they mimic the taste and texture of Asian noodles.

As for serving size, you need to read the package because I've found that the serving size and the nutritional info slightly varies brand to brand. In the US the labelling law mandates that nutritional info, including serving size, is printed on the packages.

Hi - Thanks for that... The labels are unfortunately in Japanese which I've not very good at!

We'll alter our dinner choice and see how they taste!
      Thanks.

I agree... shiritaki noodles are better with asian style dishes rather than Italian, the one exception being carbonara. For some reason, shiritaki noodles carbonara is quite good.

          I would use spaghetti squash.

Thought you'd like to know - I got 'out voted' and had to make the alfredo any way. And...... drum roll......

It was brilliant! I can't believe it. Family didn't even know it wasn't pasta - and after I told them they couldn't believe it. I could only eat half a serving because it made me so full! (other half is lunch tomorrow )

Thanks for your input. (I washed the noodles, boiled them 2 minutes in salty water, rewashed them and then patted them dry before adding to the alfredo sauce.)

I LOVE THIS WOE! Who'd of thunk it? ;-)

Good to hear. Thanks for posting the update. Unofortunately I cannot find those noodles here anywhere.
