  • Need your help (having a Dinner Party)

    I am having a book club meeting really.

    Does anyone have any ideas of how to satisfy both carb and no carb eaters inexpensively?

    I want to serve cookies/cake as a dessert but can't think of anyway to make them. I hear you can make some with sugar sweetners, but don't have a recipe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Ahsiek,
    what stage of Atkins are you? How big is your budget and how many folks do you need to serve? There are some great desserts you can use but we need more info before giving you recipes or ideas. How good a cook are you? How long till the event? What is the age group of the crowd?

      Hey I was so busy last week I was unable to log on to check your suggestions, questions, or comments.

      Here is the Menu:

      Appetitizers:
      Cheese tray w/crackers
      Veggie tray

      Main Course:
      Grilled Chicken Salad

      Beverages:
      Sprit
      Coke
      Diet Rite for me
      Water
      Wine

      Snacks:
      Potatoe chips
      Mrs. Smith apple pie w/no sugar (NutraSweet)
      Fernch vanilla ice cream

      All the leftovers and things that I couldn't have were sent home with someone. I must say that at first it was a challenge trying to prepare a meal for those who are not on the Atkins plan. But, it turned out to be easier that I thought. What really helped is one other book club member is also on the Atkins plan and we helped support one another through the rough moments.

      BTW, I had a very small piece of the apple pie and it was just okay. It didn't make me crave for sweets, but my girlfriend who is also on the plan blames me for her craving for bread. Ugh! We are both doing better and are back to eating the way we learned and have grown to love.
