  • Oysters

Cleaning out my pantry, I found two cans of oysters. I use to make Oyster stew with them, but that calls for milk, or stuffing and that calls for bread. Does anyone have any suggestions

Oysters should be limited on Atkins due to their high glycogen content. In short, they have carbs! You can eat them, but watch out for the carb count.

Thanks 2big, I didn't think about that. I'm going to try that for lunch..

Naja, yeah I know about oysters. Shell fish are some of my favorite food and so I read carefully what Dr Atkins said about them...and I do eat them in moderation.

Oyster stew with 50-50 cream and water, or better yet 50-50 cream and basic fish stock, would surely be pretty tasty. Maybe with some bacon, chopped cooked celery and cubed pre-cooked turnips?

Now, fish stock I can get. That sounds good, well until you got to the turnip part. My DH has a thing for turnips...But celery and maybe hummm, let me experiment.
