  • Need a good recipe for chuck roast

Hi everyone, ok maybe someone can help me out here, i want to cook a chuck roast but i usually cook it in Cream of Mushroom soup which is delicious, but to many carbs, the last time i cooked a roast i put it in my crockpot and seasoned it up but it still came out dry and not tasty and i ended up giving it to my dogs, so i need some ideas, for one what should i cook it in, oven, or crockpot, and then i need some recipes please. Thanks for any response, i want to make this for dinner tomorrow so i would appreciate any quick feedback.

Lisa, you could do a couple things. Do your regular chuck roast, but substitue the cream of mushroom soup for real cream and some canned mushrooms.

I like to put a nice chuck in the crockpot with some cumin, chili powder, salt, ground oregano, cayenne pepper, some peppers, onions, and a tiny bit of tomato sauce. This makes a great mexicany-steak type dish.

Oooohhhh I've got one. Slice onion, fresh tomatoes, green peppers and spice as above to make a kind of stewed tomato sauce with your chuck roast. I bet that'd be soooo good.

I put the roast in a dutch oven along with some beef broth, worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, thyme, marjoram and garlic powder, then cover and put in the oven at 300 degrees for about 7 hours. Then I use the juices as a sauce over it.
