  • turnips

    ok I bought ONE turnip because i have never had one I am trying to try new vegetables. anyways.... I have no idea how to begin to prepare it..I mean do you eat all of it? do you just boil it? do you cut it up and fry it?..
    are any parts of it inedible?

    please help me.

    Hi.

    The entire turnip is edible, but I like to remove the peel and the tough end near the top.

    There's a recipe for turnip fries in the recipe section of DANDR2002---all the way in the back of the book, near the index.

    Otherwise, you can boil and mash it like a potato, chop it and saute it like home fries, etc.

      I wash mine real good and dice it.

      Then I fry them in olive oil with a little garlic.

      Then I add some sour cream mixed with heavy cream.

      Top with cheddar cheese and bake until golden brown.

      Was sooooooooooo good!
