  • Coconut flour.

I'm thinking of buying some coconut flour.
Does anybody have experience from using it?
    (Baking/Breads/Pizza dough...)

Does it taste really strongly of coconut?

    Re: Coconut flour.

I've made my own coconut meal from unsweetened coconut flakes, and I've also bought coconut flour. It does have a nice coconut taste, though it's not overly sweet. I actually preferred using the coconut meal as it was a bit more moist. Coconut flour is extremely dry and will soak up LOTS of moisture.

I used the meal to make a shortcake/poundcake, and I've used the flour to make cookies. Generally, I wouldn't suggest using coconut as a savory ingredient, unless it's for something like shrimp or fish. Another good nut flour is almond flour or almond meal. Bob's Red Mill is a good brand to check out--LOTS of flour and meal varieties!

These flours/meals are not legal until Rung 3 of OWL.

      Re: Coconut flour.

      Thanx!

I'll begin experimenting! So it would be too "sweet" tasting for a pizza crust i guess...
