    BBQ sauce

1 small can of Hunt's tomato and roasted garlic sauce
1/4 cup hot sauce (anything low carb, pick a brand you like)
    1 clove fresh crushed garlic
Onion and garlic powder to taste
Dried pepper powders to taste (try to use at least two different kinds for a well rounded flavor, such as cayenne and ancho or dried habanero and Mexican peppers)
    1 tsp Liquid Smoke
1 tsp Splenda (optional; I don't use any)

Combine all ingredients and mix until well blended. I like this stuff as a marinade for chicken hot wings or pork ribs.

This sauce is lower carb (and tastier) than the stuff out of a bottle, but it does have some carbs and you do want to take it reasonably easy on your portions.

      Barbecue Sauce Recipe

My hubby and I love this one

      Reduced-Carb Spicy Barbecue Sauce
from "500 Low-Carb Recipes" by Dana Carpender

      1 clove garlic, crushed
      1 small onion, finely minced
      1/4 cup butter or oil
      4 tablespoons Splenda
      1 teaspoon salt or Vege-Sal
      1 teaspoon dry mustard
      1 teaspoon paprika
      1 teaspoon chili powder
      1/2 teaspoon black pepper
      2 teaspoons blackstrap molasses
      1-1/2 cups water
      1/4 cup cider vinegar
      1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon Liquid Smoke (made by Colgin and available in most larger
      grocery stores)

      1. In a saucepan, cook the garlic and onion in the butter for a few
      minutes.

      2. Stir in the Splenda, salt, mustard, paprika, chili powder and pepper.
Add in the molasses, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish,
and stir to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 15-20 minutes.

      3. Whisk in the tomato paste and Liquid Smoke and let the sauce simmer
      another 5-10 minutes.

      4. Let the mixture cool, transfer it to a jar with a tight-fitting lid,
      and store in the refrigerator.

Yield: About 2-2/3 cups of sauce. Each 2-tablespoon serving has 3 grams of
carbohydrates and 1 gram of fiber, for a total of 2 grams of usable carbs
      and no protein.

Note from Dana: "If you're wondering whether it's worth it to make your own
barbecue sauce from scratch, chew on this for a moment: Your average commercial
barbecue sauce has between 10 and 15 grams of carbs per 2-tablespoon serving -- and
do you know anyone who ever stopped at 2 tablespoons of barbecue sauce?"

        Re: Barbecue Sauce Recipe

Does anyone know how much horseradish to add to the above recipe? In step 2, it says to add the horseradish, but doesn't indicate how much? Thanks!!!
