  • Carb Counts in Flaxmeal Cereal

I just had the wonderful flaxmeal cereal (recipe found here) that consists of 4 TBL of flaxmeal, 1/2 C of boiling water, a bit of butter, tsp of Splenda, cinnamon and bit of heavy cream, and pat of butter. Loved it and think this might be a new breakfast staple. However, have no idea how to calcuate carb counts or the rest so I can enter on fitday and track. Anyone know?

if it will be a staple cheat. move fiday a head a day at the top of the page and enter the ingredients as seperate foods. then the daily total it the toal for your food. copy it down and then enter it as a custom food. Remember to save the food. then delete the items from tomorrow and return to today. easy as low carb pie. If you want vits and stuff from it go to the reports section and get them to copy into your custom food.

Strange. I just tried the same formula omitting the Splenda and cinnamon and I accidentally used whole seeds instead of grinding them first. All I got was a big bowl of snot.

Petra read your topic and you used too much water and cooked it too long. cooking the seeds whole with water is actually recommended for making a thickener you can use in place of eggs.

well thnx so much group for such a great idea, I took 3T flax, grinded it in coffee grinder, added 1/4 cup boiled water, 1 package splenda, some cinnamon and some whipped cream and what a wonderful breakfast meal, even my husband loved it. I think we'll have this daily as sick of eggs and what a good food item to clean out your pipes for your heart and your bowels, thanks.
