  • atkins friendly ham glaze?

Hi. Was wondering if anyone has an atkins friendly ham glaze? I'm making a ham and it has 1 carb /4 oz cooked ham. I figured that was pretty good for ham- so my 8 oz will only cost me 2 carbs... Should I just cook the ham the way it is from the package and just keep moist? I've never done ham before...

It depends what phase you are in and what foods you can eat within that phase.

For OWLers and Pre-Maintainers who have progressed through the Fruit Rungs, fruits like pineapple, apple, even berries can be boiled down and made into a glaze.

Personally, I never could stand candy-sweet hams----I'm the picky relative who insists on having ham slices nearest the bone.

The ham should keep moist if you cook it without a glaze. If you are worried about it, rub the ham all over with bacon fat before you bake it and baste it frequently with vegetable or ham stock.

well i ended up using 1/2 stick of melted butter. poured it over the ham and then studded it with cloves. put 2 cups water in the pan and covered with tinfoil. cooked at 325 for 5 hours. basted it twice while cooking and it came out really really tender.

sounds yummy. i love the "afterscent" of cloves.
I wonder how using pineapple flavored davinci syrup to baste would work.
