  • Spaghetti Squash

    This isn't actually a recipe request rather its a request to any of you who can share with me any easy way to cut an uncooked spaghetti squash in half.

    I love them but I feel I take my life in my hands each time I go to make one.

    When I go to cut it in half its darned near impossible, but eventually one can get through it without making a trip to the ER for stitches!

    So, anyone have any easier ways to cut these babies in half?

    Strudel, I pre-cook it before I cut it! So much easier!

    Put the whole darn thing in the microwave and jab some holes in it with a fork. Lots of holes! Cook for 10 minutes.

    When you take it out, it will not be fully-cooked, but it will be cooked enough for you to cut easily. Watch out for the steam, it's HOT! I usually wear one of those silicone oven mitts to hold it while I cut it in half. Scoop out the seeds, and now you can finish cooking your squash. Usually I cook half at a time, and wrap the other half and store it in the fridge until later in the week.

    I also gave up cooking the thing in the oven. Took too long. Microwave is MUCH quicker!

      Ya know I wondered if I could cook it whole but sticking some holes in it, but wasn't sure. The last thing I would want to do was to have one of those babies explode in the microwave, might darn near blow the door off it.

      I'm gonna try it next time that way now that I know its not dangerous.
