  • Need Fish Recipes

I absolutely do not like fish. But since I need to broaden my horizons I decided that I would solicit fish recipes from my fellow low carbers and see if I can't find one I like.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

That's a tough one. I don't care for white flaky fishes, but I like tuna steaks and salmon. I like to grill salmon. Brush it with olive oil, sprinkle on salt, pepper and fresh dill, and place thinly sliced lemons across the top. Wrap it in foil and put it on the grill for 8-10 minutes, or until it is done to your satisfaction.

For tuna, I like to blacken it with blackening seasoning in a cast iron skillet, and eat it with wasabi mayonaisse. Personally I just like to sear it, but some people like it cooked more than that. Trust me though, tuna is superior when you eat it rare.

      That's all I've got

My BF who also dosen't care much for fish loves this marinade, we've tried it on several different fish and he's liked them all! I actually made a fish eater out of him! We usually grill ours. but I have also tried it in my George Foreman grill and it came out tasty as well!

        INGREDIENTS:
        · 1/4 cup olive oil
        · 4 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning
        · 1 lime and 1 lemon juiced
        · 2 teaspoons Cilantro Leaves
        2 teaspoons Cumin
        · Chopped fresh garlic to taste (you can use the kind in the jar)
        · 1 pound tuna steaks ( haddock steaks or Mahi Mahi are also great this way!)

        DIRECTIONS:
1.Combine first 4 ingredients in a shallow dish; add fish. Turn to coat. Marinate 20 minutes, turning occasionally.

2.Grill or broil 8-10 minutes per inch of thickness or until fish flakes easily with a fork. Baste with marinade halfway through cooking.

Yes we have a grill...and a grilling basket for fish....

The marinade looks marvy...I love Old Bay and I'll be trying it.

I actually have some whiting filets that are frozen, that I'm looking to disguise. :guns

Take you whiting fillets. Toss them into a food processor and processed them with an egg, herbs and spices of your choice, salt and pepper to taste. Remove from the food processor and refrigerator for 30 minutes to let it stiffen up. Then wet your hands and form into patties. Bake or fry the patties and serve with a sauce of your choice.

do a mild creamy curry sauce and put it on top of broiled fish..really good.....
here is a basic curry sauce recipe for fish

              1 Tbs. butter
              1 shallot, minced
              2 garlic clove, minced
1 Tbs.Thai green (you can use any type of curry paste but I think green goes best with fish) curry paste
1 cup chicken/fish or veggie stock or water (you can use a knorr boullion)
              1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
              2 Tbs.good fish sauce
2 Tbs. splenda (or leave it off)

saute' :icondance the garlic and shallot in the butter add the paste and saute' :icondance it around the pan...then add the stock bring to a boil then simmer add the coconut milk and the fish sauce then Splenda and bring to a simmer...there you have it!!! wonderful sauce for fish!...enjoy!

I garnish with some cilantro and a lime wedge!

I almost forgot cook them in paper! I love fish with fennel in parchment just put the fish some butter and fresh fennel on top with salt pepper and a squeeze of lemon then make a paper pouch and bake at 350 about 15 min depending on how much you put in your package!
