I'm gonna call this OMG Pork (or chicken) because "The Big O in your Mouth" might offend people, but that's about how good it tastes... seriously.
I just made this, by accident, but it actually turned out to taste VERY similar to a dish I've been looking for the recipe for.
I started by trying to mimick the "garlic paste" from La Shish (a middle-eastern restaurant that closed in the metro detroit area).
I made it like this:
Garlic Spread
3/4 of a head of garlic, peeled and cloved
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup lemon juice
salt
pepper
sour cream
mayonnaise
shwarma seasoning (I think you could substitute a meat rub)
Put the garlic, salt, pepper, a little bit of olive oil and a little bit of lemon juice in a blender or food processor and grind up. Add little bits of olive oil and lemon juice gradually while blending (stopping and starting a blender to do this is okay too.) Now, the accident came at this part... The "paste" at La Shish is just that - paste, so I was trying to figure out why mine wasn't so thick. And, I added 1 Tbs. Mayo, blended, not much thicker. Added Shwarma seasoning and about 3 Tbs. Sour Cream, a little thicker still not the same consistency... So, I put it in a tubberware and in my fridge to decide what to use it with later. (It still tastes delicious by the way.)
Then, I moved onto my pork chops (but this would taste equally awesome with chicken). I marinated them for 15 minutes in this mixture:
Pork/Chicken Marinade
Olive oil
salt
pepper
spicy mustard
shwarma seasoning
Let it sit for a minimum of 15 minutes in the marinade. Then, put vegetable oil, salt, and pepper in a pan and heat, then brush off excess marinade (the mustard is too thick to put right into the pan) and then heat 4-7 minutes a side, only flipping once.
When I tasted the pork, by itself it was actually awesome. But, my eager little mind thought, "I wonder how good the garlic stuff would be on this?"
When I spread it over it, it was a heavenly match. Hence, me naming it "OMG Pork/Chicken".
Something about the blend of those two combinations tastes just like "Shish Tawook" - the dish I used to always order for dinner at La Shish. Oh, it was awesome.
I hope some of you try this and tell me how yours turns out!!!
Trust me, you'll love it.
