i need SIMPLE recipes
i'm 25 years old, mom of two, ready to do this once and for all!
note: i am breast-feeding, though my baby is nearly weaned, eating most solid food now. i am doing this diet with the knowledge, approval, and at the suggestion of my doctor and having done my homework. i will not discuss the matter in any of my posts. please don't bring it up. -
Re: i need SIMPLE recipes

This quote came to mind:
"Your life will never change unless you change your choices"!
I never used to plan my eating until I started Atkins ... something about this way of eating makes planning ahead easy ... and necessary!J.

You do not want to be passing ketones to your baby through breast milk.
so what CAN i do while nursing?

>>i didn't go into keytosis the last 2 times i did atkins.>>
If you were relying on the "pee sticks", they don't always tell you if you are or aren't in ketosis.
What you can do while you're nursing is MAINTENANCE. You want to be above 50 net carbs per day ... you can eat whole, unprocessed foods, low glycemic fruits, appropriate vegetables, and even some whole grains.
You certainly don't need "junk" carbs while nursing!
And since you have a baby, you're really going to need to learn how to "plan" ... or the baby won't have diapers, food, etc.!J.

this is not my first child.the baby does't take that much planning. we buy diapers when we see we're running low and about half of baby's food comes from my body and the other half..well that's why i buy baby food, and don't make it at home.. but its not the same as planning menus. making an elabarate breakfast when i need to catch the schoolbus in the mornng and dinner that will please a diet-phbic husband and fussy 6 year old that does not require 14 ingredients is another story. i usually dont decide what i'm cooking until i look through my kitchen and see what there is.i work arund what i have.
the cauliflower mock potatoes are a good example of what i mean. 3 ingredients, easy to make and alter, doesn't need its own shopping trip.. more like that would be great.i'm 25 years old, mom of two, ready to do this once and for all!

You don't want to be "losing weight" while breastfeeding.
>>making an elabarate breakfast>>
You don't need to make an "elaborate" breakfast ... nor one that requires 14 ingredients!

I'm sure that will work out fine for you!

Re: i need SIMPLE recipes
Here are some quick simple filling ideas:
*Tuna + Mayo + diced celery or scallions or another acceptable crunchy vegetable (or leave out the veg.)
* EggSalad w/ or w/o adding veggies as above
*wrap either of above salads in a leaf of lettuce
* Cream Cheese rolled in lox or in lettuce
* Mayo + lo carb tomato sauce to use as a dip for raw vegetables or anything else (great 4 soup chicken)
* Omlet w/ or w/o cheese, scallions, mushrooms - u choose the veggies
* Cut onions and tomatoes into eighths and sautee in olive oil - add spices as u like (perhaps garlic powder/basil/oregano/parsley/bl pepper) peppers work well w/ this too or instead of one of these veggies. If you have the oven on - make this on a parchment lined baking sheet w/ spices, drizzle olive oil and bake. Really, you can do this w/ most veggies and u can eat it hot or cold. Optional - sprinkle parmesan cheese or any grated hard cheese prior to eating.
***I don't know if avacados are in season in your area, if they are, snack on a half of a small avacado +salt. If u have a few more minutes scoop out the insides of the avacado, add salt, lemon juice and garlic (or garlic powder or onion powder or sauteed chopped onions) and mash. Save the pit and put it in the guacomole when u refrigerate it - will keep it fresh and green!
***** BUT PLEASE CONSIDER THE FEEDBACK U RECEIVED ABOUT NURSING - YOUR BABY'S HEALTH IS YOUR PRIORITY NOW - I THINK FOLLOWING THE ATKINS MAINTENENCE IS BEST 4 A NURSING MOTHER, BUT ATKINS ITSELF DOES GIVE U LOTS MORE ENERGY TO BE AN EFFECTIVE MOM!!!
***Try snacking on almonds, peanuts, pumkin seeds too.Female

Re: i need SIMPLE recipes
I lost weight just nursing - because it is a good way to get rid of calories
and being a tad more active. Concentrate on eating sensible and not cutting carbs too low and you will be fine. Take care of the the little one.
You can always go full force with Atkins once you decide to stop nursing
