  • Breakfast on induction

    Hi I am new on this bord and started induction 4 days ago.
    I was having an advantage bar for breakfast, because I do not like eggs or meats that early in the morning. However I just read the thread on the bars and am very hesitant to continue eating them.
    Does anybody please have an idea? Early morning is also usually a very rushed, grumpy time (getting everybody ready for school and myself ready for work etc) so I am looking for something easy.

    When I'm in a hurry, I toss a scoop of pure whey protein (1-2 carbs) in a jar with a teaspoon of instant decaf coffee and a pinch of stevia (noncaloric herbal sweetener). I shake that up with water or soy milk and some ice. I may add a teaspoon of flax oil if I want to up my fat percentages and stay full longer.

    That's a good homemade protein shake that doesn't contain nasty sugar alcohols, preservatives, hidden carbs or other weird stuff that you don't want in your body. If you get a good, clean brand of pure whey protein with minimal carbs you're pretty much set. Look in stores that sell bodybuilder's supplements for the whey protein and make sure you get a brand without carby additives.

      I may also add some Wondercocoa for variety.
      I was eating the 1advantage bar ( keeps me going till noon) and am wondering if that may slow me down.
      Is Soya milk OK on Atkins? I was trying Somerzising and there soya is not allowed.

        Look at the labels on soy milk. It has almost as much carbohydrates as real milk.

          Remember, you don't have to eat breakfast foods for breakfast. Have whatever you like to eat.
          A lot of times, I will have something in the fridge already cooked...and take it to work and heat it up there. It may be a piece of meat from the night before....or sausage thats been cooked and put in a baggie.
          I've read where some people will have a salad for their 'breakfast'.
          Hang in there....you will find what makes you happy!
