    Pumpkin Substitute?

Has anyone tried using any of the summer squashes as a substitute for pumpkin? I didn't know if it would taste the same, especially in recipes that call for pumpkin pie spice.
    Thanks!

Summer squash is rather bland and would make a decent sub for pumpkin. A better sub would probably be spaghetti squash (in fact, I've seen recipes for spaghetti squash jam--high sugar type recipes...)

Thank you Megs! I'll probably break down and order some pumpkin, but I was thinking I should expand my vegetable repertoire first.
