  • chicken wings with Frank's hot sauce

I saw a recipe somewhere for buffalo wings made with hot sauce. Well I went out today, got Frank's hot sauce and the wings and now can't find the recipe anywhere. I'm looking for a recipe where I can just cook the wings in the oven. Any suggestions.

    thx

    Hi.

If you look on the Franks bottle the recipe for the sauce is there. I think Franks recipe is 1/2 cup sauce plus 1/3 cup melted butter. I only use 2 tablespoons butter and I add finely minced garlic clove and some hot pepper flakes.

Anyhow, I bake my wings rather than fry them. What I do is put them in a large baking dish and bake them at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes. You'll need to flip them over half way through the baking so the brown nicely. I also line the pan with cooking parchment paper (easier clean up and nothing sticks to parchment paper unlike foil).

When the wings are cooked I dunk them in the sauce to coat them.

    Enjoy!

(Don't forget the celery sticks and blue cheese dressing!)

thank you. i've tried the blue cheese dressing before with wings, my husband made it, and we both hated it. it was so strong we ended up throwing it out which was a real waste because the cheese was so expensive so i'll just stick with the wings. thx again

What type of blue cheese did you make it with? Blue cheese isn't one cheese, it is an entirely family of cheeses. A dressing made with something like Saga Blue is going to be a lot different from one mage with Gorgonzola, one with Rouqefort, or one with Stilton. Just buy a bottle of the Kraft Roka Blue Cheese dressing from the grocery store if you like it mild, that stuff is very meek, but still has a nice tang.

As for the wings, whether you bake or fry (you will get much better results frying btw) tossing them in the sauce at the end is always the same. The more butter you add the less heat you will have, or if you want more heat than the straight sauce, spike it with cayenne. Garlic is a great idea, as noted above, and lots of fresh ground black pepper (there is really never a reason to use pre-ground black pepper for anything now that I think about it) gives a great extra layer of flavor as well.
