Just returned from dinner at Spoons. They listed a low carb turkey burger on the menu. I opted for a California burger w/o bun and tomato slices instead of fries. One member of our party who is doing LC WOE ordered the low carb turkey burger. When the orders came his burger was accompanied with a large serving of cooked carrots (the menu said veggies), not LC in my book. My burger sans bun arrived as ordered and was tasty, but when the bill arrived there was a 59 cent charge for "starch substitution". When will restaurants learn what low carb means. This is the first restaurant I have visited that has charged for LC substitutions.

Boo! :newburn
I would have taken it back and complained, but then I'm just a ***** anyway
Carrots are not even close to low-carb, especially cooked. And if the waiter didn't inform you of the extra charge, I'd have it taken off. And if he didn't, his tip would be that some people don't appreciate being lied to about their food because it could be potentially fatal.
(Sounds extreme, but you've never seen someone allergic to fish get crab cakes "made without any fish" puff up like the Michelin man and start gasping for breath at lunch. Pisses me off when someone lies because it's expedient for them...)

I wish I could say we're all equal, but the truth is Cleo's the cutest.
